Student Outbound, proclaimed by the Department of Economics Faculty of Economics and Business Airlangga University, was held on 28 October to 03 November 2017. This activity was followed by twenty students from the Department of Development Economics and a student from the Department of Islamic Economics, with the assistance of two lecturer ie Dr. Muryani, S.E., M.Si., MEMD. and Achmad Jayadi, S.E., M.Ec.Dev .. The purpose of holding a Student Outbound is to improve international mobility. This is done to support Unair towards 500 World-Class University as well as to increase international insight among students.
The Student Outbound began on 28 October 2017. We started this journey by gathering at the Juanda Airport two terminal, making a short transit in Kuala Lumpur before arriving at Brunei International Airport in Bandar Seri Begawan. On the first day, October 30, 2017, we did City Tour in Bandar Seri Begawan. We visited Kampung Ayer, located on the coast of the Brunei River, and Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, located in the center of Bandar Seri Begawan. Followed by Student Engagement event by Universiti Brunei Darussalam students held at Chancellor Hall UBD. In this Student Engagement event, we get to know UBD students of School of Business and Economics (UBD SBE) and play games with them. After this Student Engagement event, we visited the Empire Hotel located on the South China Sea coast to simply take pictures on the beach. A visit to the Empire Hotel was our last destination of the day.
The next day on 31 October 2017, we started our journey that day with a visit back to Brunei Darussalam University to attend the General Lecture presented by Lecturers from the Universiti Brunei Darussalam. After that, it is connected with General Lecture II delivered by Dr. Muryani, S.E., M.Sc. After Rest, we were given the opportunity to do Campus Tour which was accompanied by UBDSBEC, after we were immediately directed to one of the SME place which is owned by internal Universiti Brunei Darussalam namely Enterpreneurship Village, there we are given material about making a business by bringing new product, market problems with all the limitations of existing resources. In addition we are given the opportunity to create business ideas and present them in the forum. Enterpreneurship Village was our last destination on that day.
The next day on November 1, 2017 we visited one of the well known and certified halal SMEs, namely Sabil Food Processing. There we got material about Sabil Food, we explained about history of Sabil Food, Sabil Food product type, Sabil Food product production, marketing, and saw production process at Sabil food factory, there we know how food and beverage market in Brunei Darussalam, there, Factory production system, marketing within Brunei country, and got some gifts from Sabil Food. After the visit from Sabil Food we continued the guest lecture from UBD presented by E-Business theme in Brunei Darussalam which will be implemented soon and provide financial efficiency, since previously in Brunei Darussalam not yet implemented E-Business system. The second guest lecture was delivered by Achmad Jayadi, S.E., M.Ec.Dev. from Airlangga University with the theme of Indonesian Fiscal and Monetary Policy. After that our event ended on that day.
The next day on November 2, 2017 we visited the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, where we described the economic, cultural, social, political, and role of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the relations between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, and after that we performed Saman Dance and Poco- poco. Then we headed to Brunei Darussalam University to attend our closing event as well as our last event on campus. The event opened with a speech from Lecturer of Universiti Brunei Darussalam then continued with welcome from Airlangga University that is from Dr. Muryani, S.E., M.Sc. Then followed by short speech from UBDSBEC student representatives and Airlangga University to give the message and the impression so far. After that, the event closed with the appearance of Saman Dance and Poco-poco Dance from Airlangga University and exchanged presents with UBDSBEC representatives.
