The Student Outbound delegation arrived at Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 12.00 noon. Then we took the electric train until the next stop and finally met many UTP students who had been waiting at the arrival gate. Not to forget we took pictures together before boarding the bus to continue the journey for the next activity.
During the journey, we were shown various magnificent buildings which were the offices of Malaysian state ministries, state treasury offices, Yang-Pertuan Agong (regional / state heads) offices, etc.
Putrajaya Mosque Tour
Putra mosque is taken from the name of Prime Minister of Malaysia First, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. The mosque was built in 1997-1999. It is located opposite Putrajaya lake. Because of its location on the lips of Putrajaya Lake, in passing, this Putra Mosque looks like a floating mosque. This pink-dominated mosque building adopted the Persian arts architecture of the Safavid era and some elements of other Muslim cultures. Visitors who do not wear closed clothing are required to wear the maroon robes provided at the gate of the mosque.
Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC) Tour
KLCC consists of Petronas Twin Towers, shopping centers, offices, and many hotels. Petronas Twin Towers are the twin towers that once became the tallest buildings in the world in 1998-2004, before being surpassed by Burj Khalifa and TaiTai 101. The Petronas tower designed by the César Pellidari architect of Argentina was completed in 1998. The 88-storey tower was largely built Of the concrete is repeated with steel and glass exterior buildings.
We arrived at the UTP campus at 11:00 pm and immediately held the key division of the student village room. Each room has air conditioning and 2 children. Each child also has wifi access from UTP with a maximum of 22 Gb quota during one week of our activities there. Student village consists of several blocks for student residence during college at UTP, similar to dormitory of Airlangga University. Each block consists of several storey buildings devoted to women only or men only.
Café V2 & V3
Café at UTP is in every village block. For village 3 block (V3) for example, there is café V3 which provides various types of cuisine. This café serves as a cafeteria as well as a hangout place for students and has opening hours from morning to evening. The price of food provided is adjusted to the student bag. Since we live in block V3, the café we use for eating at UTP is V2 & V3 café.
Opening Ceremony at MPH Room CSIMAL
On the next day after we arrived on Monday, July 24, 2017, the opening ceremony was held in Multi Purpose Hall (MPH) room measuring about 40 m2. The opening begins with a prayer followed by a speech from a lecturer from Airlangga University. Mohammad Pisol bin Mohd as Deputy Head of UTP Malaysia Postgraduate Department who accompanied UTP visit to UNAIR before, then Ir. Dr. Shahir Liew as Dean of the Faculty of Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering, and the last one was Dr. Ku Zilati Ku Shaari as head of UTP.CSIMAL’s Center of Student Internal Mobility and Adjunct Lectureship (CSIMAL) has a function similar to IOP UNAIR.
After the opening ceremony, we got an explanation presentation about Malaysia in general, then on Petronas Technology University, and lastly about Department of Management and Humanities.
While at UTP, we feel one of the sports and recreation facilities that kayak. UTP has a very wide lake that can be used for kayaking. Kayak is one of the leading sports at UTP. Before starting the kayak, UNAIR students got an explanation of kayaking procedures as well as heating to prevent injuries. UNAIR students are very enthusiastic when playing kayaking. Sport and Recreation facilities at UTP consist of gym, futsal field, soccer field, basketball court, swimming pool, sepak takraw pitch, etc.
Some UTP students guide us to campus tours and introduce various campus areas and facilities such as department of management and humanities offices, libraries, etc. The UTP library has an area of 12,790 m2 and is one of the largest libraries in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
